There was an article posted about me from a French news media group called “Le Télégramme”. The interviewer did not express my true feelings and respect I have for the late Richard Nixon as well as the society in which I currently live.
She stated in her article:
The small town of Yorba Linda, about sixty miles south of Los Angeles in Orange County remains a Republican enclave in the Democratically dominated “Golden State”.

I did not want my work or the area that I lived to be politicized and drawn down to such a closed minded field of view. Calling Orange County an “Republican enclave” is more of an uneducated guess than a matter of fact and merely reflects, but a small fragment of Orange County as a whole. This county and state are much more diverse than this statement or article would present.
“I made this bronze Nixon based on photos of him at the age of 35, after seeing a horrible statue of former president at the museum and told myself that I could always do better. We have met numerous diplomats who have told us the greater good,” says Gisele.

And to clarify this statement that the interviewer had quoted from me about the “horrible statue”, it was in reference to a comment a friend had made to simply challenge me, as an artist, to do something better. I would never make any notions to bash or insult another artists work; that is never my intention when creating my pieces.
As for the commentary in having met “numerous diplomats”. It is not something unnatural to meet politicians given the nature of my husband’s work as a consulate member dealing in international relations. However, this has no bearing or influence, whatsoever, on how I conduct my business or in the creation of my sculptures.
